Customer Case Systematic Commissioning

Kuben is a modern residential development in central Bergen, combining urban living with high sustainability standards. The project forms part of BOB's residential portfolio in Bergen.

COWI and Stoltz selected TaskCtrl as their platform for design management and systematic commissioning, covering the project from early design phases through to handover.

One platform for design and commissioning

To achieve seamless project execution, COWI and Stoltz implemented TaskCtrl as their shared platform. All changes and adjustments were tracked and documented continuously, reducing the risk of errors and delays in critical phases.

Optimising the design phase

With TaskCtrl, COWI was able to structure all aspects of the design, from architectural details to technical installations, in a single system. Structured information flow made change management straightforward and transparent for all parties involved.

Structured systematic commissioning

The system list in TaskCtrl gave the project continuous status visibility across all technical systems. Systems and interfaces were managed efficiently, with full oversight of planned tests and dependencies, presented as a visual test hierarchy.

"Using TaskCtrl for systematic commissioning gave us a detailed overview of system status in the project, making it easy to stay updated on progress. On site, having the test protocol accessible directly on mobile is particularly useful, we can update it continuously as tests are carried out, which saves significant time and resources compared to updating manually afterwards."

Cathrine Øvrebø Lund, Project Management & Development, COWI

TaskCtrl's commissioning module provided a clear overview of accepted tests, open defects, and missing test documents, with a complete test report generated after each completed test. The module also supported reuse of test procedures across phases, contributing to more efficient test planning.

Test execution was carried out using the TaskCtrl mobile app on site, where defects were registered and documented in real time, without manual data entry after the fact.

Outcome

COWI and Stoltz delivered the Kuben project to a successful conclusion. The integrated approach to design and systematic commissioning demonstrates how modern digital tools can improve both process and delivery quality in residential projects of this scale.

Frequently asked questions

What did COWI and Stoltz use TaskCtrl for?

TaskCtrl was the shared platform for design and systematic commissioning on Kuben, a residential project in central Bergen.

How were tests carried out?

Tests were performed with the TaskCtrl App on site. The test protocol was updated while tests were running, and issues were logged directly in the system.

Can test procedures be reused?

Yes. Test procedures can be reused, which made test planning more efficient in later phases.
